How You Can Apply For Online GST Registration?

If your annual turnover is more than 40 lakhs then as per the rules, it is mandatory to register your business with GST in India. Doesn’t matter whether you provide services, goods, or both.

Online GST Registration – Overview 

The government of India has added Goods And Service Tax in the taxation system of India recently. Moreover, if your business is working on a large scale and has a turnover of 40 lakhs by selling goods, you need to register as a taxable body. Likewise, if you are providing services with a yearly turnover of 20 lakhs, you also need a GST registration. However, for the northeastern region’s government has set a special threshold limit of 10 lakh rs.


To maintain smooth business operations, you need to register for the GST. The whole online GST registration process will take around 4-6 days.

Important Documents Needed For GST Registration 

  • Applicant’s PAN card
  • A cancelled cheque along with the bank statement
  • Office address proof
  • Adhaar card
  • Incorporation certificate
  • Authorization letter with the sign of an authority
  • Director’s ID proof and address

How To Get GST Registration?

  1. Firstly, you need to visit the official website of GST.
  2. After login into the portal, you need to choose ‘Taxpayers’ and click ‘Register now’
  3. After that, select ‘ New Registration’ 
  4. Then you will see the ‘I am a’ drop-down menu, choose ‘Taxpayer’
  5. After that, you need to fill the district and state.
  6. Fill in your company name along with PAN details.
  7. Write the registered mobile number and an Email address. You will receive an OTP on both these platforms.
  8. Now you need to fill the CAPTCHA as you will see in the picture and then click on ‘Proceed’
  9. After filling in the company details you will be transferred to the next page where you need to write the OTP which has been sent to your mobile number and Email address.
  10. Once you fill in the OTP, select ‘Proceed’.
  11. Then you will see a Temporary Reference Number on the screen. Write it down.
  12. Now go back to the main portal of the GST website and choose the register option under the tab of Taxpayers.
  13. Enter the temporary reference number along with a CAPTCHA and click on ‘proceed’
  14. Fill the OTP and ‘Proceed’. 
  15. Now you can proceed to check your application status.
  16. Now select the ‘Edit’
  17. Then you will be sent to a ten sections page. Make sure that you are filling all those sections.
  18. Once all the important details and documents are submitted. Visit the page of verification. Now, submit the application using any methods from the following –


                EVC – OTP sent on your verified mobile number.

E-sign – You will receive an OTP on the number linked with Adhaar.

Digital signature method – You need to keep this method on priority.


  1. Once you complete your registration following the above steps, you will receive an application reference number on your registered Email and mobile number.


  1. Now you can check the status of your application with the help of ARN on the official GST website.
